Available Classes

At Karmany Yoga we offer many different types of yoga to appeal to all fitness needs. Some days you may need the intense workout of a Power Flow class and other days you may require the more gentle pace of our Iyengar class. Each teacher’s class will offer something a little different based on his or her own training and particular influences or gurus. We hope you try all of our classes and find something in each class that speaks to you.

Class Levels

All

All indicates multiple levels practicing together in varying depths and expressions of the poses that are presented in a very user-friendly way. Be prepared to explore or be introduced to preparations for inversions.

Power Flow

A vigorous, more athletic approach to yoga techniques characterized by flowing poses and sequences that are linked to the breath and choreographed to increase strength and flexibility. Classes are designed for students looking to have a great time with the sequences set to up-tempo music, including rock, reggae, hip hop, blues and world beats. Modifications are offered in every pose as well as intensifications for those who wish to explore a deeper practice. Come prepared to sweat!

Slow Flow

Looking for a more gentle yoga class? Slow Flow is the practice of observing your own natural rhythm of breath and movement with the body, while moving slowly from one pose to another. This helps us to see how we are getting into and how we are holding the pose. In this way, we are more mindful of our alignment and listen to our practice. We can carry our practice of "Slow Flow" into our everyday lives. It will help us to be more mindful, grounded, and balanced in everything we do.

Iyengar Level 1

Iyengar yoga emphasizes safe and correct alignment of the body in each asana. This precision builds physical and mental strength, balance and flexibility. In this class the teacher modifies the postures for individual students with the use of props -- such as blocks, blankets and belts -- to allow for a deeper penetration into the posture. The class begins with elementary postures, with an emphasis on the standing postures, and progresses to forward bends and back bends, twists, inversions and restorative poses. Each class ends with Savasana, corpse pose or deep relaxation.

Certified Iyengar yoga teachers are held to a rigorous standard that requires intense and ongoing study and evaluation. Iyengar yoga teachers individualize their approach for each student making accommodations for body types, injuries and conditions.
